Family Practice: Let's Evaluate the Billing Risks

Ms. DeConda’ s career has been spent solely in healthcare beginning as many of you, as the check in receptionist at an urgent care, and was able to have progress through her career that included medical assisting, respiratory therapy, practice management, billing and denials support, practice liaison, in-office practice coding/auditing/educating, and 15 years ago Shannon DeConda’ s career path led her to establish NAMAS, the National Alliance of Medical Auditing Professional. NAMAS was the first organization to formally education and certify medical auditors. Today Ms. DeConda is the president of NAMAS which is a division of DoctorsManagement in which she is a partner and has been with them now for 19 years.
Family practice providers are truly diverse specialties. They are the perfect storm of multiple services in one practice and as billers, coders and auditors working in this practice it is our job to ensure we are on high alert to identify areas of high risk. In this session we will evaluate these areas and discuss hot topic areas and give your questions some hopeful answers.
Learning Objectives:
- Preventive encounters and the concerns they raise with sick visits and lack of comprehensive documentation
- Documentation appropriateness and the lack of meeting 2021 DG needs
- 25 modifier complexities
- Incident to in the workplace
- Being a champion for monitoring the process
